Kyiv declares Day of Mourning for those killed in Russian attack

Tomorrow, May 15, a Day of Mourning has been declared in Kyiv in memory of the victims of tonight's nighttime Russian attack.

This was announced by Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko.

According to him, flags will be lowered to half-mast on all municipal buildings in the city. It is also recommended that state flags be lowered to half-mast on buildings of state and private ownership.

“On May 15, any entertainment events are prohibited in the city,” Klitschko said.

The clearing of rubble in a damaged house in the Darnytskyi district of the capital continues. As of 4:30 p.m., 8 people are known to have died.

What is known about the attack on Kyiv on May 14?

On the night of May 14, Russian troops launched a combined strike on Kyiv and the region with missiles and drones. Residential buildings, non-residential premises, a business center, a car dealership, garages and cars were damaged in the city – in Darnytsia, Shevchenkivskyi, Pecherskyi, Dniprovskyi, Obolonskyi, Solomyanskyi, Desnyanskyi, Svyatoshynskyi and Holosiivskyi districts. In the Darnytsia district of the capital, the structures of a 9-story residential building were destroyed. There are fatalities there.

More than 40 people are known to have been injured, including a one-month-old baby who was poisoned by carbon monoxide.

At least 20 people are considered missing, the State Emergency Service reported.

More than 30 victims were hospitalized, including one child, informed Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko.
