In Kyiv, a military man in a military uniform was walking around a supermarket and intimidating customers with a weapon. Law enforcement officers detained him, as the man was drunk.

This was reported today, April 30, by the press service of the Main Directorate of the National Police of Kyiv.

It is noted that the other day, law enforcement officers received a report that an armed man was walking around a store on Kopernika Street. Eyewitnesses reported that the visitor appeared intoxicated and was behaving strangely.

“It was established that a 40-year-old serviceman, who had left the military unit without permission, was walking around the hall with an object resembling a rifle, which actually turned out to be a toy,” the report says.

The department informed that the man was “disarmed” and handed over to the military law enforcement service. The Shevchenko Police Department also initiated criminal proceedings under Part 1 of Article 296 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – hooliganism. The maximum sanction of the article provides for up to five years of restriction of liberty.

Earlier it was reported that in the capital, law enforcement officers detained a man who threatened supermarket visitors and employees with a weapon. He was drunk. The 46-year-old Kyiv resident was detained and a starting pistol was seized.

Law enforcement officers also detained a 24-year-old Kyiv resident. He is suspected of not paying for goods and threatening a security guard with a weapon. The man has already been tried for theft.
