In Kyiv, law enforcement officers reported a man suspected of hooliganism in a park. In addition, during his detention, the suspect attacked a police officer.
This was reported today, May 7, by the press service of the Main Directorate of the National Police of Kyiv.
It is noted that the Podilskyi Police Department received a report that a man was picking flowers from a flower bed in a park on Georgiy Gongadze Avenue.
“Passers-by reprimanded the man, but he instead sprayed a tear gas canister in their faces and fled,” the report says.
Law enforcement officers identified the offender, a 26-year-old Kyiv resident, and located him on a nearby street. While speaking with the police, the man tried to escape and punched one of the police officers in the face, the department reported.
Investigators detained the defendant and informed him of suspicion under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine: Part 1, Article 296 Hooliganism , and Part 2 of Article 345 Intentional infliction of minor bodily harm to a law enforcement officer in connection with the performance of official duties by that officer . He faces up to 5 years in prison for this offense, the police informed.
