
In the village of Ivankiv, Vyshhorod district, Kyiv region, local residents called the police because of fireworks that were set off near a river, which led to a fire. Law enforcement officers who arrived at the scene identified the suspect. A criminal case has been opened.
This was reported by the Kyiv Region Police on Telegram on April 15.
The suspect is a 19-year-old local resident. According to preliminary police information, while near the river, he activated a household firework in the form of a candle, which caused the grass to catch fire.
“The fire was extinguished by employees of the State Emergency Service. Law enforcement officers are currently conducting the necessary investigative actions. Physical evidence has been seized,” the report says.

In December 2021, a petition “On the ban on the use of firecrackers, fireworks and other pyrotechnic products and the closure of all pyrotechnic stores” was registered on the website of the President of Ukraine. The petition received over 25 thousand votes and was supported.
