Kyiv region law enforcement officers have reported a 58-year-old resident of Vyshgorod district on suspicion of treason. According to investigators, the man worked for the Russian FSB and even “expressed his willingness to finance the illegal activities of the Russian Federation.”
This was reported by the Kyiv Regional Prosecutor's Office on February 20.
According to the case materials, the man was collecting information about critical infrastructure and defense-industrial complex facilities in the Kyiv region on behalf of Russian special services.
“The suspect contacted a representative of the so-called “18th Information Security Center of the FSB of the Russian Federation” via one of the messengers,” the report says.
In addition, according to the prosecutor's office, the man showed his own initiative, offered options for completing tasks, and, according to the investigation, even expressed his willingness to finance the illegal activities of the Russian Federation.
If the man is proven guilty in court, he faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
