From April 1, the NBU canceled the limit on card transfers between individuals, but there is a nuance

From April 1, 2025, the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) has lifted the temporary limit on card transfers between individuals, which was UAH 150,000 per month. This limit was in effect from October 1, 2024 and was introduced to combat financial abuse and money laundering.

It is worth noting that although the NBU restriction is no longer in effect, Ukrainian banks have implemented their own limits on transfers between individuals. From February 1, 2025, in accordance with the memorandum signed between banks and the NBU, new limits were set depending on the client's risk level:

  • High-risk clients: limit up to 50 thousand hryvnias per month.
  • Medium and low risk clients:
    • From February 1, 2025, the limit is up to 150 thousand hryvnias per month.
    • From June 1, 2025, the limit will be reduced to 100 thousand hryvnias per month.

These restrictions apply not only to card-to-card (P2P) transfers, but also to IBAN transactions. Banks also exchange information on suspicious transactions and can suspend or block customer accounts if limits are exceeded without proper verification of sources of income.

For regular users, this means being careful about the amounts and frequency of your transfers. If you plan to make large transfers, it is recommended to provide the bank with documents confirming the legality and source of your income in advance. This will help avoid possible delays or blocking of transactions.
