Foreigner, ordered by Russia, prepared a double terrorist attack in Kyiv — SBU

A foreigner who made homemade explosives at the request of the Russian Federation has been detained in Kyiv. He is suspected of preparing a double terrorist attack in the capital.

This was reported by the Security Service of Ukraine.

Law enforcement officers established that a 42-year-old citizen of the Republic of Armenia has been living in Kyiv for many years in his wife's apartment, but does not have a permanent job or income.

An acquaintance offered him a part-time job, supposedly at a construction site. However, the employer turned out to be a representative of the Russian special services, who asked him to make explosives and carry out a terrorist attack. After receiving several thousand hryvnias on a card, the man agreed to cooperate.

According to the SBU, the attacker was initially supposed to plant an explosive device under a military vehicle. After emergency services arrived at the scene, another explosive device was supposed to go off nearby.

The suspect in the preparation of a terrorist attack was detained before planting explosives. He faces up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property.
