
On Saturday, February 7, 30-year-old firefighter Mykhailo Protsenko died while responding to the aftermath of a Russian attack in Yahodyn, Kyiv Oblast. His colleague was injured and hospitalized.
This was reported by the State Emergency Service.
After a night attack by Russian UAVs, the warehouses of the Roshen factory in Yahodyn, Boryspil district, caught fire.
Mykhailo Protsenko, chief master sergeant of the civil defense service, firefighter-rescuer of the 22nd DPRC of the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service of the Kyiv region, worked at this facility. During the work, the warehouse structures collapsed. Protsenko died. He is survived by his wife and two young sons.
Condolences over the death of the emergency worker were expressed by the Minister of Internal Affairs Ihor Klymenko, the Head of the State Emergency Service Andriy Danyk, and the Head of the Kyiv OVA Mykola Kalashnyk.
In the same fire, 49-year-old Master Sergeant Serhiy Khobotnya was also injured at the same time. According to Klymenko, the rescuer has serious injuries. He is currently in the hospital.
“In total, the forces of the State Emergency Service were involved in work today at 7 difficult locations where the enemy struck,” the service added.
The head of KOVA added that another rescuer received facial abrasions, but his condition is satisfactory and does not require hospitalization.
On January 25, 31-year-old rescuer and climber Oleksandr Pytaychuk died during emergency repair work at one of Kyiv's energy facilities. On January 26, the State Emergency Service also reported that 36-year-old rescuer Oleksandr Zibrov died in the hospital. On January 9, he came under repeated attack by Russian troops in the Darnytskyi district of Kyiv.
