Fire still being extinguished in Yagotyn, Kyiv region, after shelling on February 7

In Yagotyn, Kyiv region, rescuers have been fighting fires at the Roshen confectionery company's warehouses for the fifth day. The premises were attacked by Russian drones on the night of February 7.

This was reported by the State Emergency Service of Kyiv Region on February 11.

There are many destroyed metal elements at the site, which complicates the work. They have to be cut and stretched with heavy engineering equipment to see and reach hidden fire centers.

In total, more than 50 rescuers and 12 pieces of equipment are working at the location. Three water tankers and two tractors are working to ensure uninterrupted water supply.

“Rescuers are shedding meter by meter the remains of the building's structures, where burning is still ongoing in some places,” the State Emergency Service wrote.

Yagotyn is home to the Roshen logistics center, whose warehouses caught fire as a result of Russian shelling on February 7. 30-year-old rescuer Mykhailo Protsenko died at the scene while extinguishing the fire. He was said goodbye the day before, on February 10. His colleague, 49-year-old Serhiy Khobotnya, was injured and hospitalized.

Due to shelling on the night of February 7, there is damage in the Boryspil and Brovary districts of the Kyiv region. Emergency power outages were introduced in the region, and critical infrastructure was transferred to backup power sources.
