A 49-year-old Kyiv resident will go on trial in the capital. He is accused of setting a car on fire with a flammable liquid. The man confessed to the crime.
This was reported by the press service of the Main Directorate of the National Police of Kyiv.
It is noted that the incident occurred at the end of November. Law enforcement officers received a report that a car was on fire on Radunska Street in Desnianskyi district. As a result of the fire, the Hyundai car burned to the ground.
The investigation found that the defendant had been trying to rekindle his relationship with his ex for several months. When he was rejected again, the man decided to take revenge on his rival. He doused his rival's car with flammable liquid and set it on fire, while also suffering burns to his hand.
The police informed the man about suspicion under Part 2 of Article 194 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – intentional damage to another's property, committed by arson. Currently, investigators have sent the case materials to the court. The suspect faces up to ten years in prison.
It was previously reported that a local resident will also be tried in the capital. A 23-year-old Kyiv resident contacted the police. She reported that the front door of her apartment in a high-rise building was on fire. The police found out that the door was set on fire by a 44-year-old woman, the mother of the applicant, with whom she had a quarrel. No one was injured as a result of the fire.
