Angelina Jolie supported 14-year-old Polina, seriously injured during a missile strike on Izyum

American actress Angelina Jolie has contacted 14-year-old Polina from Izyum in the Kharkiv region. The girl was seriously injured during the Russian strike on the city on February 4. Then the Russian Federation launched an Iskander ballistic missile strike on the central part of Izyum. Five people were killed. 57 people were injured, three of them in serious condition, including Polina.

Polina Pliska suffered multiple injuries and is currently undergoing treatment at the Okhmatdyt Children's Hospital.

“Her biggest dream is to walk again, and Ukrainian doctors are working to make this a reality. The girl also said that she really wanted to meet Angelina. We did everything possible to help make her second dream come true,” the United24 organization reported.

According to “United24”, when the actress learned about Polina's story, she called and talked to her, and also sent a note with words of support.

Polina was seriously injured when she arrived to apply for a passport. The girl was near the scene of the impact, and one of the fragments hit her in the back, writes Suspilne.

Polina was given first aid at the Izyumska hospital, and then taken to a hospital in Kharkiv, where the child underwent several operations. Since February 16, the girl has been treated at Okhmatdyt. Currently, her condition is stable.

Polina's family is raising money for an active wheelchair with a special anti-bedsore cushion – this is necessary so that the girl can move around without help. She does not plan to return to her Kharkiv family in the near future, because Polina has a long rehabilitation ahead of her.
