Kyiv customs officers burned 58 kilograms of drugs and psychotropic substances in an oven in the presence of law enforcement officers, which were seized during an attempt to import them into Ukraine. Most of them were from international postal and express shipments. Some of them were from the times when Boryspil and Zhulyany airports were operating.
This was announced by the State Customs Service on May 1.
The drugs were hidden in candies, chewing gum, chocolates, seeds, pills, and liquids for smoking in electronic devices.
Among the seized items were cocaine, kratom, codeine, morphine, cannabis, cannabis resin, tetrahydrocannabinol – dozens of dangerous substances.
“All of this was destroyed in a special oven at ultra-high temperatures — by decision of the commission in the presence of representatives of customs, law enforcement officers, and a licensed organization,” the report says.
Customs also said that drugs and psychotropic substances that enter Ukraine without the appropriate permit are confiscated. Then, they are destroyed.
Previously, customs officers told how the shepherd Nora discovered almost 4 kg of drugs disguised as dried fruits from Thailand.
