
The Podilsky District Prosecutor's Office of Kyiv has reported suspicions against the director of a private company. He is accused of polluting the air with harmful substances.

According to the case materials, the enterprise, which specializes in metal processing, exceeded the permitted level of pollutant emissions into the air. Residents of the Podilskyi district have repeatedly complained about its work.
The prosecutor's office informed that during the searches, with the participation of environmentalists, emissions of pollutants into the air were measured. A significant excess of carbon monoxide by almost 11 times and sulfur dioxide by almost 20 times was found.
“The conducted engineering and environmental expertise confirmed environmental damage in the amount of 2.5 million hryvnias,” the report says.
Law enforcement officers reported the suspicion to the director of a private company, who is responsible for the company's compliance with and implementation of environmental legislation. A petition was sent to the court to set the suspect as a preventive measure in the form of bail.
Maximum sanction of articles Part 1 of Article 241, Part 2 of Article 364-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – pollution of atmospheric air with substances harmful to the environment and abuse of authority, which has caused grave consequences, provides for up to six years of imprisonment, with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for a term of up to three years.
