Law enforcement officers in Kyiv have detained a local resident suspected of detonating a grenade in a capital apartment.
This was reported by the press service of the Main Directorate of the National Police of Kyiv.
It is noted that the incident took place in one of the communal apartments in the Dnipro district. According to the investigation, the 37-year-old Kyiv resident was drinking alcohol with his neighbors. During the feast, he decided to show the ammunition.
“Upon returning to his room, the man activated the grenade's ignition mechanism, which detonated,” the report says.
There were no injuries. Law enforcement officers seized the F-1 grenade casing and are currently establishing its origin and purpose of storage.

The man was detained and reported on suspicion under Part 1 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. For illegal storage of explosives without a permit provided for by law, he faces up to seven years in prison.
It was previously reported that a 52-year-old man was detained in the Kyiv region. He is suspected of illegally storing grenades and detonators. According to the suspect, he found them in a field during the occupation of the Brovary district. Despite the requirements of the law, the man did not report the find to law enforcement officers.
