A 33-year-old local resident was convicted of robbing a serviceman in Kyiv. The court sentenced him to 7 years in prison.
This was reported today, April 30, by the press service of the Main Directorate of the National Police of Kyiv.
It is noted that in March, the police received a report from passers-by that an unknown person had beaten a man and taken his belongings on Verkhovna Rada Boulevard. The victim was a 36-year-old serviceman who was in Kyiv for rehabilitation after being wounded at the front.
Law enforcement officers found out that the men had a fight and the opponent punched the soldier in the face. The victim fell to the ground from the blow. The now-convicted man took his bag of money, documents, belongings (sneakers and a cap) and fled.
The officers detained the suspect near the scene and seized the stolen property. He turned out to be a 33-year-old Kyiv resident who had previously repeatedly violated the law, including committing hooliganism and robberies.
The police informed the detainee of suspicion under Part 4 of Article 186 Robbery, combined with violence that is not dangerous to the life or health of the victim, committed repeatedly, under martial law of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Currently, the Dniprovsky District Court of Kyiv found the man guilty and sentenced him to 7 years in prison.
In January, it was reported that in the Holosiivskyi district of the capital, unknown assailants beat and robbed a serviceman near a public transport stop. The victim is a 59-year-old resident of the Kyiv region who came to the capital on vacation. Investigators detained two Kyiv residents, aged 29 and 48.
Also, a 44-year-old military woman who was undergoing treatment in the capital was robbed in a cafe in the capital. An unknown person ran up to her table and grabbed a bag containing money, a bank card and documents. The thief turned out to be a 22-year-old Kyiv resident. The bag with things was returned to the owner, but the suspect managed to spend 3 thousand hryvnias. He was detained.
