$17,500 for reservation employment: Police suspect former official

The capital's law enforcement officers have exposed a Kyiv resident. He is suspected of promising a conscript guaranteed employment at a utility company with subsequent reservation from mobilization for money.

This was reported by the press services of the Main Directorate of the National Police of Kyiv and the city prosecutor's office.

According to the case materials, the defendant previously worked as the acting director of the Golosiyevo-Budinvest enterprise, but resigned in the summer of last year. Despite this, he assured the man of draft age that he had connections among current officials and could negotiate his employment. The position involved was one that required reservation from mobilization.

“For his “services” he demanded $17,500. Initially, the suspect received $2,000, and a few days later, while receiving the second part of the funds in the amount of $15,500, he was detained under Article 208.” Detention by an authorized official of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine,” the message says.

Investigators informed the detainee of suspicion under Part 3 of Article 369-2 Obtaining an unlawful benefit for oneself for influencing a decision-making process by a person authorized to perform local government functions, combined with extortion of such benefit, is punishable by up to eight years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.

It was previously reported that the capital's prosecutors sent the case materials regarding a 43-year-old resident of Vinnytsia to the court. According to the investigation, the man promised to negotiate for $5,200 to declare a conscript unfit for service and remove him from military service.

The capital's law enforcement officers also sent the case materials to the court regarding a 29-year-old Kyiv resident (driving school instructor). According to the investigation, he promised to get a conscript to work at a logistics company for money. Employees are booked there and there is an opportunity to travel abroad.
