The StopOdrex campaign has accumulated numerous grievances from individuals treated at the Odrex medical center within a couple of months, despite three efforts to impede the platform. Patients are voicing concerns regarding discrepancies in their medical records, inaccurate diagnoses, and emotional manipulation.

The subject of care at the controversial Odrex facility remains prominent, with StopOdrex advocates announcing a continuous stream of fresh accounts from those who have been patients. In just over two months, these advocates have logged a plethora of grievances, with the tally still rising. Despite three separate attempts to shut down the StopOdrex site, the campaign persists in airing stories related to patient experiences. To understand the primary concerns of former Odrex patients and how the clinic is allegedly striving to “suppress” unfavorable feedback, delve into the article by UNN.
It has been just over sixty days since the emergence of the StopOdrex movement, a coalition of families who have lost loved ones and individuals who identify as victims of treatment at the contentious Odrex clinic located in Odessa. In this period, complaints from the medical center have resulted in the blocking of the StopOdrex web page three times. This platform served as a space where activists could anonymously share narratives of treatment, report advancements in the “Odrex Case,” and offer mutual support. Consequently, members of StopOdrex have been compelled to transition their communications to Telegram.
Khrystyna Totkailo, an activist within the movement whose father passed away after receiving care at Odrex, points out that the magnitude of the issue has proven far greater than initially anticipated.
“The sheer volume of individuals willing to share their adverse treatment experiences at Odrex anonymously has exceeded our expectations from the outset. We have been actively engaged for more than a couple of months, and one might expect these accounts to eventually cease, yet new testimonials continue to arrive daily. Scores of individuals allege to have suffered harm at the hands of this facility, with many either not realizing the situation in time or lacking the immediate resolve to contact law enforcement. Were all those who have contacted StopOdrex to file formal statements, the number of criminal investigations against Odrex would significantly increase,” Khrystyna Totkailo asserts.
According to the activist, the most frequent complaints revolve around discrepancies between the medical documentation and the actual events occurring in patient rooms and operating theaters. Instances are also described where Odrex medical professionals have presented patients with alarming diagnoses that were subsequently disproven by specialists from other establishments. Individuals also assert that the medical personnel exploited the vulnerable state of patients and their families to push for immediate and costly procedures. This tactic of exerting psychological influence on individuals during critical junctures is a source of considerable worry.
“People are documenting unsettling experiences. Predominantly, these include inaccurate and ultimately fatal diagnoses that were later contradicted in other hospitals. Emotional coercion and intimidation are also frequently mentioned. Individuals recount being informed that failure to promptly commence expensive treatments or undergo surgery at Odrex would result in death. Moreover, those who have lost family members at the clinic report that adequate communication from the clinic ceased once the final invoice for medical services was settled. Furthermore, victims cite peculiar alterations in medical records, such as the omission of procedures for which substantial payments were made, or conversely, the inclusion of procedures that were never administered,” Khrystyna elaborates.
The aim of the StopOdrex initiative is not solely to gather and anonymously publish stories, but also to cultivate a dedicated realm for emotional and mental support. Activists assist those affected in recognizing that they are not isolated in their pursuit of justice and truth. Khrystyna Totkaylo believes that this solidarity has emerged as the most significant challenge to the clinic’s public image. She contends that the clinic’s apprehension of the inevitable exposure of factual accounts is what compels it to resort to obstructing the functions of StopOdrex resources.
“The clinic is fully cognizant of its actions over the years. It recognizes the rising count of dissatisfied individuals who have finally found their voice. It sees genuine personal narratives that cannot be easily erased. This is why they have been so resolute in their efforts to shut down our site by lodging complaints with global organizations and hosting companies. They are deeply afraid that the truth will become widely known. However, blocking the site does not erase people’s memories. The truth has a way of surfacing, regardless of how diligently they attempt to bury it beneath promotional campaigns and complaints,” the activist adds.
The UNN editorial team reached out to the Odessa clinic in order to obtain a statement from its management concerning the “Odrex Case” and the events described by StopOdrex campaigners and former clients. Regrettably, as of the time of publication, the Odrex clinic chose not to respond to the inquiry.
The stance of the Ukrainian Ministry of Health is equally revealing in this circumstance. Despite the fact that at least ten criminal inquiries are underway concerning the activities of Odrex, and that the influx of complaints from patients persists, the regulatory body has not identified any breaches of the clinic’s licensing conditions. This superficial “compliance” of Odrex amidst tragic events leads to a troubling inference: within the Ukrainian healthcare framework, patients remain largely vulnerable. After all, when the regulatory authority disregards widespread grievances from patients about the clinic and ongoing criminal cases, citing technical adherence to protocols, this is more than just silence; it is a signal that individuals are being left to cope with their tragedies alone.
