As reported by the rescue department, information regarding an urgent situation was obtained the previous day: a 22-year-old Kyiv resident and a 21-year-old Zhytomyr resident were undergoing chilling conditions on the Chornohirsky ridge. The sightseers intended to camp overnight in the mountains, but owing to the intense cold and damp footwear, their state rapidly declined.
In the morning, the travelers experienced symptoms of frostbite and understood that they couldn’t descend the mountains independently, after which they requested assistance.
Experts from the Governmental Emergency Management Agency promptly arrived at the Baltsatul valley location, warmed the victims with hot beverage, and moved them to the Bogun off-road vehicle utilizing a snowmobile. The tourists were subsequently transported to the town of Hoverla, where they were turned over to urgent medical personnel.

The Governmental Emergency Management Agency encourages people to thoroughly prepare for mountain treks, consider weather patterns and their individual strengths, because overlooking safety guidelines can endanger lives.
