Ukrainian Air Force destroying enemy air defense systems, using HARM missiles

Ukraine’s Air Force is taking an active part in supporting the nation’s Ground Forces, including by engaging Russian air defenses with the help of U.S.-supplied HARM missiles.

That’s according to the Air Force spokesman, Yur Ihnat, who spoke at the national telethon on Friday, Ukrinform reports.

"Our Air Force is taking an active part in supporting our ground forces, striking ground targets, enemy air defense systems with American HARM missiles, which is great news because more than one such air defense system has been destroyed by these missiles. This, of course, helps our strike planes – our Su-25 attack aircraft and Su-24M bombers, loaded with missiles and bombs, drping tonnes of munitions on invaders’ heads. With the support of artillery and other units, our Ground Forces can be more confident while advancing in the directions where the battles to liberate our lands are currently being fought," the spokesman said.

He noted that the enemy is suffering heavy losses, paying a high price for its aggression. Ihnat recalled that the Air Force in the past day had shot down another Russian Ka-52 attack helicter and six unmanned aerial vehicles.

"If a single Ka-52 helicter actually costs $16.5 million, one Kh101 missile, a number of which were recently downed, costs $10 million to $13 million. Of the six missiles fired by the Russians, five were shot down by the Air Force, so you can count how much these high-precision hi-tech missiles cost Russia," the spokesman said.

He also recalled that a few days ago, the Armed Forces destroyed the enemy's Tor, S-300, Buk-1, Buk-2, and other air defense systems.

As reported by the General Staff earlier today, Ukraine's Armed Forces eliminated about 51,900 Russian sdiers between February 24 and September 9, including 650 on September 8 alone.

Also, Ukraine's defenders destroyed 2,122 (+10) enemy tanks, 4,575 (+18) armored fighting vehicles, 1,237 (+11) artillery systems, 306 (+1) multiple launch rocket systems, 159 (+0) air defense systems, 239 (+0) warplanes, 2111 (+1) helicters, 888 (+4) erational-tactical UAVs, 214 (+0) cruise missiles, 15 (+0) warships / cutters, 3,399 (+55) trucks and tankers, and 114 (+4) pieces of specialized equipment.
