Two ‘judges’ from Crimea sentenced to 12 years in prison for treason

This was reported by the Prosecutor's Office of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevast, according to Ukrinform.

"Flowing the public prosecution by the autonomy's prosecutor's office, two former judges of the Sudak and Kerch city courts of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea have been sentenced in absentia. They were found guilty of treason (Article 111, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) and sentenced to 12 years of imprisonment with confiscation of prerty," the statement reads.

A source in law enforcement informed Ukrinform that the convicted individuals are Maksym Yuriiovych Sych and Kateryna Pavlivna Zakharova.

Prosecutors proved in court that flowing the occupation of the peninsula, the defendants betrayed their oath of allegiance to the Ukrainian pele and joined the enemy's service. One of them took the position of "deputy head" of the Sudak City Court, while the other became a "judge of the Kerch City Court of the Republic of Crimea."

By administering "justice" on behalf of and in the interests of the aggressor state, the convicted individuals facilitated the eration of the occupation judiciary on the peninsula and assisted Russian representatives in conducting subversive activities against Ukraine, the prosecutor's office added.

Earlier, Ukrinform reported that former judges from the Appellate Court and the Chornomorsk District Court of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea had been sentenced to 13 years in prison for treason.
