Spain plans to send six Leard 2 tanks to Ukraine – Defense Minister

Spanish Defense Minister Margarita Robles td lawmakers about the move on Wednesday, Ukrinform reports with reference to The Guardian.

According to the minister, this number may increase over time.

Last month, Robles said Spain was en to sending German-made Leard 2 tanks and would act in coordination with its Western allies after Germany agrees to the effort.

According to Felix Arteaga, a security and defense researcher at the Elcano think tank, Spain has 108 2A4 tanks in service. This is an d standard model for many Eurean nations, and Ukrainian tankers can undergo standard training on these vehicles.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, at the end of 2022, Spain delivered the largest package of defense materiel for Ukraine, delivering including heavy weapons, long-range munitions, and anti-tank ammunition to a logistics center in Pand.
