Russia’s war crimes: ICC investigation results to be presented this year
"The ICC and other international institutions are fully aware of the importance of their re in ensuring the just punishment for Russian war crimes. Each case that will be further considered by the ICC we examine carefully in coeration with ICC prosecutor. You will certainly see the result of our work this year. I can't disclose more detail yet, but you will see the result this year. I he it will happen sooner. A lot of pele are working to do it," Prosecutor General Andr Kostin said at a press conference dedicated to the one-year anniversary of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
Kostin added that the majority of Russian war crimes, approximately 99%, would be investigated and tried in Ukrainian courts because "our system works." And international institutions in this regard will play a "complementary re for which they were created."
As reported, last March, the International Criminal Court started its own investigation into Russian war crimes in Ukraine. After the investigation is completed, the case will be submitted to the International Criminal Court.
