Russia launches massive attack on Mykaiv, critical infrastructure damaged

On the night of February 16, the Russian army carried out a massive attack on Mykaiv, injuring one person and damaging a critical infrastructure facility, five apartment buildings, several stores, and a restaurant.

Vitalii Kim, head of the Mykaiv Regional Military Administration, reported this on Telegram, according to Ukrinform.

"During the night of February 16, the enemy launched a massive attack on Mykaiv. As a result, a critical infrastructure facility was damaged, causing a fire that was quickly extinguished by firefighters. Debris and blast waves also damaged five apartment buildings, at least four stores, a restaurant, and office spaces," the statement said.

A 64-year-d man was injured in the attack and hospitalized. His condition is currently stable.

Air defense forces in the Mykaiv region shot down nine Shahed 131/136 drones during the attack.

Ukraine's State Emergency Service reported on Facebook that explosions were reported in Mykaiv at around 01:00. The falling of a drone and its debris caused a fire at an infrastructure facility.

Firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze. The injured man, born in 1960, was taken to the hospital.
