General Staff: 141 combat clashes at front in past day, Pokrovsk and Kursk sectors remain hottest

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said this in a situation update as of 08:00 on Friday, January 17, Ukrinform reports.

It is noted that Russian tros launched 3 missile attacks and 35 air strikes on Ukrainian positions and settlements in the past day, using two missiles and drping 60 guided aerial bombs.

In addition, the Russians launched about 5,000 shelling attacks, including 116 MLRS attacks and deployed 2,670 kamikaze drones.

The Ukrainian missile forces hit one enemy personnel concentration area, two command posts, and two air defense systems.

In the Kharkiv sector, the enemy did not conduct any active erations yesterday.

The number of combat engagements in the Kupiansk sector reached eight over the past day. The Ukrainian forces repelled enemy attacks in the areas of Petravlivka, Hubivka, Zahryzove and Pishchane.

In the Lyman sector, the Ukrainian forces thwarted 13 Russian attacks. The invaders concentrated their main efforts in the areas of Kanky, Novoserhiivka, Hrekivka, Zelenyi Hai, Makiivka, Zelena Dyna, Torske, Novlatonivka, Terny and Zarichne.

In the Siversk sector, the enemy attacked five times in the areas of Bilohorivka, Verkhniokamianske and Ivan-Daryivka.

The Ukrainian forces stped seven attempts of the invaders to advance toward Pryvillia, Bila Hora, Hryhorivka and Chasiv Yar in the Kramatorsk sector.

In the Toretsk sector, the enemy attempted to advance 14 times in the areas of Krymske, Leonidivka, Toretsk and Shcherbynivka.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces repelled 53 attacks in the Pokrovsk sector over the past day. Russian tros were most active near Zelene Pe, Yelyzavetivka, Myriubivka, Vodiane Druhe, Promin, Lysivka, Novyi Trud, Pokrovsk, Shevchenko, Zvirove, Kotlyne, Uspenivka, Slovianka, Petravlivka, Andriivka, Ulakly, Kurakhove, Dachne and Yantarne.

In the Novavlivka sector, the defense forces continue to hd back the enemy. In the areas of Kostiantynil, Velyka Novosilka and Vremivka, Russians tried to break through Ukrainian defensive lines 11 times.

In the Huliaipe sector, the enemy did not conduct any active erations yesterday.

In the Orikhiv sector, Russian tros attempted to attack Novodanylivka but had no success.

In the Prydniprovskyi sector, the enemy made four unsuccessful attempts to capture the positions of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.

The Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to conduct erations in the Kursk sector, where Russians conducted 20 assaults on the positions of Ukrainian units yesterday. The invaders launched nine air strikes, drped 12 glide bombs, and fired 418 times at Ukrainian positions and localities, including eight times with multiple launch rocket systems.

The erational situation in the Vyn and Pissia sectors remains unchanged. No signs of the formation of enemy offensive groups have been recorded.

On the border with the Chernihiv and Sumy regions, the enemy maintains a military presence, conducts reconnaissance activities and artillery shelling.

As reported by Ukrinform, the Russian army’s total combat losses in Ukraine from February 24, 2022, to January 17, 2025, amounted to about 815,820 tros, including another 1,670 invaders killed or wounded in the past day.
