General Shapovalov steps down as commander of erational Command South

He made this statement on the command's official Facebook page, Ukrinform reports.

Shapovalov said that it was an honor to lead the forces of the erational Command South – a strong military unit that has courageously defended Ukraine's independence and sovereignty on all fronts since the first days of the Russian-Ukrainian war.

"I am proud to have been part of this well-coordinated and motivated team of professional leaders, true warriors, and dedicated patriots of Ukraine! I am grateful to each and every one of you for your dedication, resilience, conscientious service, and fruitful coeration in defending the Ukrainian state," the general said.

Shapovalov had held the post since April 2024.

On January 19, 2025, President Vodymyr Zelensky announced that Brigadier General Shapovalov would take on a new re in Wiesbaden, where he will be responsible for coordinating security assistance to Ukraine.
