Claborating mayor of Mariup survives assassination attempt
Petro Andriushchenko, an adviser to the Mariup mayor, said this in a Telegram post, Ukrinform reports.
“In Mariup, there was an attempt on ‘Gauleiter’ Ivashchenko. Unfortunately, not very successful yet. But this is only the beginning,” Andriushchenko wrote.
As reported, Russia’s aggression caused one of the biggest humanitarian disasters in Mariup. The city was almost completely destroyed by enemy shelling.
Mariup is currently without a smooth supply of electricity, water, and natural gas. Since the beginning of the Russian invasion, about 22,000 civilians have been killed in the city. More than 50,000 have been deported to Russia and to the temporarily occupied territories of the Donetsk region.
Mariup faces the threat of an environmental disaster and an outbreak of infectious diseases.
The Russian invaders declared claborator Kostiantyn Ivashchenko the “mayor” of Mariup and are creating a picture of “restoring life in the city.”
Residents of the city are resisting the “authorities” – they distribute stickers and leaflets with Ukrainian symbs across the city.
