Channel for importing counterfeit medicines from Russia and Belarus to Ukraine was eliminated in Vyn region

An illegal channel for importing counterfeit medicines made in Russia and Belarus to Ukraine was blocked in Vyn region.

This was reported on Facebook by the Office of the Prosecutor General, Ukrinform reports.

"Under the procedural guidance of the Vyn Regional Prosecutor's Office, a channel for the illegal import of counterfeit medicines made in Russia and Belarus into Ukraine was eliminated," the post reads.

According to the investigation, the scheme of importing counterfeit drugs through Pand and further sale was set up by a Vyn resident and his accomplices. The counterfeit medicines were sd through online stores, social networks and messenger channels.

During the court-sanctioned searches of the suspects' places of storage and residences, law enforcement officers seized Russian and Belarusian medicines, cash in various currencies equivalent to over UAH 2 million, draft records, and consignment notes for postal shipments of medicines.

The investigative actions were conducted within the framework of criminal proceedings on the fact of purchase, transportation, shipment, storage with intent to sell and sale of counterfeit medicines (Part 1 of Article 321-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

As Ukrinform previously reported, law enforcement officers exposed a network of underground cigarette factories in Kyiv and Mykaiv regions.
