Aftermath of Russian drone strike on residential area in Sumy

The Prosecutor’s office has launched an investigation into a Russian drone strike that hit a residential area in Sumy.

That is according to a statement on Telegram by the Sumy Regional Prosecutor's Office, as reported by Ukrinform.

Under the procedural supervision of the Sumy City Prosecutor's Office, a pretrial investigation has been initiated under Part 1, Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine for war crimes.

“According to the investigation, on February 9, 2025, at approximately 22:50, an enemy drone struck a parking lot located in the courtyard of an apartment building in Sumy. As a result, a 43-year-d woman was injured,” the statement reads.

It is noted that the strike resulted in six vehicles being completely destroyed, 15 other vehicles damaged, windows in four apartment buildings shattered.

Prosecutors and law enforcement officials are documenting the aftermath of the attack.

The pretrial investigation is being conducted by the Sumy District Pice Department.

As reported, a headquarters for eliminating the consequences of the Russian drone strike was set up in Sumy in the morning.

"Emergency response post is erating at Scho No. 29. Throughout the day, victims will receive consultations, and applications for damaged housing inspections will be accepted," the Sumy City Council stated in its announcement.

As previously reported, on February 9, the Russian forces struck Sumy with a Shahed drone, damaging private cars, four apartment buildings, one private house, and several commercial prerties.
