Why was Geraskevych disqualified from the Olympic Games?
Ukrainian skeleton athlete Vladyslav Geraskevych has been suspended from the Olympic Games due to his use of a “memory helmet”.
The decision to disqualify the Ukrainian skeletonist was made by the jury of the International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation (IBSF) because the helmet that Geraskevych intended to wear at the competition did not comply with the rules .
After the official notification from the IOC about the disqualification, Vladyslav said that he was ready for such a decision. On his Instagram page, Geraskevych wrote that “this is the price of our freedom.”
Of course, it's a shame, I didn't want this scandal. I wanted to be part of this sporting holiday, which was also taken away from me. I wanted to be part of these Olympic Games in a friendly atmosphere with many athletes with whom I have good, friendly relations. We had great training, great results.
