USA provides Ukraine with $82 bln in aid since start of Russia’s full-scale invasion – Under Secretary of Commerce

The United States has already provided Ukraine with $82 billion in aid since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion, U.S. Under Secretary of Commerce Marisa Lago said.

She said at a press conference in Kyiv on Friday that practically, the United States continues to mobilize a broad coalition of allies and partners to provide military, economic, and humanitarian assistance to Ukraine. For its part, the United States has provided $82 billion in aid to Ukraine since the start of this brutal, unjustified war, Lago added.

The Under Secretary assured that the United States will be with Ukraine at every step. Lago indicated that for her team at the Department of Commerce, the International Trade Administration, an unwavering commitment to Ukraine means connecting American companies to urgent needs now, particularly in the areas of defense and energy.

According to her, it is equally important that we are already planning Ukraine's victory and economic recovery. Heeding the guidance of President Zelenskyy, the United States and our partners are not waiting for the war to end to begin planning for recovery, she emphasized.

Lago noted that supporting Ukraine is not just the right decision, but an investment in transatlantic security and the democratic values ​​that we all hold dear. She reported that during her visit to Kyiv, she had the opportunity to meet with a number of Ukrainian officials, including First Deputy Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko, Minister for Strategic Industries Oleksandr Kamyshin, and Deputy Minister of Digital Transformation Oleksandr Borniakov.

Lago said she came to Ukraine already feeling part of this community, and today she leaves deeply inspired and with a renewed commitment to mobilize all the tools and resources at the Commerce Department's disposal to support Ukraine, its security, and prosperity for generations to come.
