Sunflower prices in Ukraine have reached a two-month record thanks to active purchases by processors, who have raised purchase prices to UAH 26,600–27,500/ton (CPT), reports the information and analytical agency APK-Inform.
“Long-term rains in the western and central regions of the country have improved the harvest forecasts in these regions. However, in the south and east, precipitation is still insufficient, which significantly reduces the yield potential in these places,” the experts note.
Many fields in the south show underdeveloped plants, small seed pods, wilting, premature yellowing and drying of lower leaves. Some farmers have decided to disk such crops and begin preparing fields for winter sowing.
