Ukraine, U.S. to deepen coeration in energy sector

The Minister of Energy of Ukraine, German Galushchenko, held a meeting with the U.S. Energy Secretary Jennifer Granhm as part of the meeting of the Partnership for Transatlantic Energy and Climate Coeration in Zagreb. The parties discussed the issue of further coeration between the two countries in the field of energy.

That's according to the ministry's press service, Ukrinform reports.

German Galushchenko thanked his counterpart for the assistance to Ukraine’s energy sector, in particular for the gas turbine mobile power plant, which was recently provided to the Ukrainian side by the United States Agency for International Develment (USAID).

"The installation of such gas turbines in different regions of Ukraine will help us decentralize generation and ensure an uninterrupted power supply to critical infrastructure and consumers," the Minister of Energy noted.

German Galushchenko also briefed the minister on the provisions of the updated Energy Strategy of Ukraine until 2050, which prioritizes clean and safe energy, based on a decentralized power system. The minister added that Ukraine will be grateful to the American side for the prosals regarding the relevant document.

Separately, the meeting focused on joint efforts to implement the Net Zero World initiative, which invves accelerating the transition to clean, safe energy systems and building a carbon-free world.

The parties also discussed the deepening of coeration in the nuclear industry and the corporatization of Energoatom.

Taking into account the experience and prospects of coeration with the USA, it is important that the best experts join in advising the process. Energoatom became the most efficient, transparent company, the world leader in atomic energy.

German Galushchenko said that Ukraine has submitted its candidacy to the Board of Governors of the IAEA and is counting on the support of the United States in this matter.
