Ukraine exports 2-3M tonnes of foodstuffs less every month

Since October, Ukrainian ports have been forced to work at less than half of their capacity, and every month Ukraine is not able to export 2-3 million tonnes of grain to the world market.

Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Finance, Tax and Customs Picy, Danylo Hetmantsev, said in a Telegram post, Ukrinform reports.

"Since October, Ukrainian ports have been forced to work at less than half of their capacity, and the vume of about 2-3 million tonnes is not exported to the world market every month  (over 11 million tonnes for October, November, December, and January together)," said Hetmantsev.

According to him, almost 120 ships are currently waiting for inspection in the Bosphorus. The average waiting time is from two to five weeks, which lead to losses for cargo owners. However, attempts by the Russian Federation to organize the "Hunger Games" will not st Ukraine, the deputy stressed.

Hetmantsev reminded that Ukraine plans to provide more than five million pele with grain by the end of spring as part of the Grain from Ukraine program, which is designed to prevent famine in African and Asian countries. Thirty donor countries have joined the program. A total amount of contributions has already reached almost $200 million dlars.

As reported, the Grain from Ukraine program was initiated by President of Ukraine Vodymyr Zelensky. It provides for the purchase of Ukrainian grain by partner countries and its transfer to states experiencing a humanitarian crisis. The program is implemented in partnership with the World Food Program under the auspices of the United Nations.
