If you or your company wants to stand out in the market, it is worth registering a trademark. These can be your own names, letters and numbers, slogans, images, colors, packaging, etc., as long as they allow you to distinguish your goods or services from others.

What is worth knowing about the trademark?

The owner of a trademark can be either an individual or a legal entity, or several of them at the same time. Details were told in Diya.Business.

A registered TM (®) gives the owner the exclusive right to use it, including the ability to prohibit competitors from using it for relevant goods or services. In addition, it opens the way to selling a franchise and receiving regular income, and is also a condition for registering a domain in the UA zone.

In Ukraine, as in other countries, you can register one or more TMs and use them in your commercial activities.

Registration is carried out in selected classes of the International Classification of Goods and Services, which has 45 categories. TM can be registered in one or several classes, but it is advisable to choose only those that truly correspond to your activity.

Important! The registration procedure takes approximately 18-24 months from the date of application. Therefore, it is worth taking care of this in advance – before entering the broad market and investing significant funds in promoting goods or services under a certain TM.
