TikTok monetization in 2026 remains one of the most talked-about topics among creators, but actual revenues often fall short of expectations. Despite millions of views, direct payouts from the platform remain relatively low.
What is monetization on TikTok and what are the sources of income?
Monetization on TikTok is the ability to generate revenue from content. The platform allows you to earn money in several ways, but not all of them are equally effective, writes Hostiq.
Creators can earn through advertising and brand integrations, affiliate programs, live broadcasts, selling their own products or services, and the Creator Fund program.
It is collaboration with brands that usually brings in the most money.
How much does TikTok pay per 1,000 views?
Creator Fund is the platform’s official program that pays for views. But the earnings here are low: approximately $4-8 per 1,000 views, $100-600 per 1 million views.
This means that even viral videos don't guarantee significant earnings. Why is this a problem?
- users overestimate the opportunity to earn money
- Newbies expect quick money
- real income does not cover the time spent
How to enable monetization?
To access the program, you need to:
- be over 18 years old
- have 10,000 or more followers
- get 100,000 views in the last 30 days
After that, you can submit your application through your profile settings.
Please note! This program is not yet available in Ukraine, but it works for bloggers in the USA, UK, France, Italy and Germany. Ukrainians can start earning from affiliate programs, advertising and sponsorship.
How to make money on TikTok by collaborating with partners?
- Improve your profile to interest partners. Make sure you have a clear niche, a clear bio, constant activity with at least 2-3 videos per week, high-quality covers, and a consistent style;
- Make 2-3 “informal” promotional videos, for example, a product recommendation without payment, to show potential partners your style;
- Don't advertise everything at once, because you can lose the trust of your subscribers;
- Don't copy someone else's advertising, because partners don't like it;
- Do not put affiliate links in comments, as TikTok may hide them;
- Use a QR code in the video or an affiliate link in the Bio, as TikTok does not allow active hyperlinks directly in the video caption.
So, TikTok can make money, but not through views. Real income only appears when the creator uses the platform as a tool for audience development , and not as a primary source of income.
Do I have to pay taxes on TikTok?
If you earn money on TikTok or YouTube, this income is considered official. The tax office considers it as a salary or profit from entrepreneurial activity, writes My.novyny.
Taxable persons include:
- Pay-per-views (monetization)
- donate from platforms like Patreon or streams
- advertising integrations with brands
- barter (e.g., equipment or services for advertising)
All of these formats are a full-fledged income, even if the money does not come directly.
Is it necessary to open a sole proprietorship?
Formally, registration of an individual entrepreneur is not required if the income was one-time. However, if the earnings are regular, there is advertising or collaboration with brands, and commercial content is produced – such activities are already considered entrepreneurial.
The most common legalization option is a 3rd group individual entrepreneur with a 5% rate. This allows you to work officially and pay income tax.
The tax office has access to bank transactions and international payment systems. Regular receipts from abroad can attract the attention of regulatory authorities.
Possible consequences:
- additional tax assessment for several years
- fines and penalties
- account blocking
- problems with loans, visas or starting a business
