This year Ukraine to increase area planted with oilseed crs – Agrarian Picy Ministry
This was announced by First Deputy Minister for Agrarian Picy and Food Taras Vysotskyi during a nationwide telethon, Ukrinform reports.
"As for the sown areas, there will be a reorientation. Oilseed crs will become a priority… Oilseed crs have a lower yield per hectare, since their gross yield in weight is less, but the cost is 2-2.5 times higher compared to grain crs," he said.
According to Vysotskyi, in addition to rapeseed, the areas will be sown with soybeans and sunflowers. The total amount of harvested crs is projected to be 10-15% less, but will be compensated by the higher cost.
He emphasized that oil crs in Ukraine are export-oriented.
As reported by Ukrinform, the Ministry of Agrarian Picy and Food of Ukraine projects that during the 2023 spring sowing campaign, Ukrainian farmers will reduce sown areas by at least 20% compared to 2021.
