Shmyhal: Up to 40% of consumers in Odesa still without electricity, situation is difficult

Up to 40% of consumers in Odesa city are still without electricity, emergency shutdowns were imposed, the situation is difficult.

As Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal posted on Telegram, he held a meeting with the Odesa Regional Military Administration, where the energy minister and the Ukrenergo power company head now work, regarding the situation with electricity supply in Odesa city and district

"In the city, up to 40% of consumers (280,000 pele) are still without electricity, emergency shutdowns are in effect. During last evening and night, it was possible to restore the power supply to more than 200,000 clients and critical infrastructure facilities," Shmyhal noted.

According to him, 90% of centralized boiler plants already work, efforts are made to connect them to the generators of local boiler plants.

Also, the Prime Minister noted, repairs are ongoing around the clock at the substation where a technogical accident occurred the day before.

In addition, powerful generators are currently on their way to Odesa to help power critical infrastructure and provide electricity to a greater number of consumers.

In particular, according to the PM, more than 25 generators have already arrived, about 50 more are on the way.

"The situation is difficult. We are working 24/7 to settle it as soon as possible and return electricity to pele's homes," Shmyhal stressed.

As reported, on February 3, due to a large-scale accident at a substation, three districts of Odesa city and some areas of Odesa district were left without electricity. Critical infrastructure facilities, industry and househd customers were powered down.
