Shmyhal, Grossi discuss steps to demilitarize Zaporizhzhia NPP
The relevant statement was made by Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal on Telegram, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“We discussed the steps needed to demilitarize Zaporizhzhia NPP. I emphasized that it is necessary to st Russia’s illegal actions in relation to Zaporizhzhia NPP as soon as possible,” Shmyhal noted.
In his words, Zaporizhzhia NPP’s demilitarization is the number-one point in the peace plan announced by Ukrainian President Vodymyr Zelensky.
Grossi briefed Shmyhal on the IAEA’s plans to send regular technical missions to all Ukrainian nuclear power plants in the near future. The IAEA’s independent experts will be working at Zaporizhzhia NPP, Rivne NPP, Khmelnytskyi NPP, South Ukraine NPP and Chornobyl NPP.
“This will significantly increase technical and technogical safety. The missions are intended to secure power plants and document any possible external influence attempts, namely the aggressor’s shelling,” Shmyhal stressed.
