Thousands of entrepreneurs in Ukraine still use Russian-origin mail services. The most common remains mail.ru.
What Russian domains are used by individual entrepreneurs?
As of mid-April 2026, 4,389 individual entrepreneurs indicated email addresses on Russian domains when registering. This is approximately 0.5% of all active individual entrepreneurs who indicated an email, writes Opendatabot.
The most common remains mail.ru – it is used by 2,628 entrepreneurs. Also among individual entrepreneurs there are:
- rambler.ru – 472 users
- yandex.ru – 424
- as well as list.ru, bk.ru, inbox.ru
Despite this, the absolute majority of Ukrainian entrepreneurs use international and Ukrainian services. The leader is Google's Gmail – it was indicated by almost 626 thousand individual entrepreneurs (about 73%).
The second place is occupied by the Ukrainian service Ukr.net – over 161 thousand users. Other popular platforms include:
- icloud.com – 14.7 thousand
- i.ua – 11.7 thousand
- meta.ua – almost 6 thousand
What does this mean?
Although the share of users of Russian services is small, the fact of their use among businesses remains noticeable. Experts usually attribute this to inertia – some entrepreneurs simply do not change old contacts registered many years ago.
What does this mean for sole proprietors? Email is the official business communication channel. Using Russian services can lead to:
- security risks
- loss of control over data
- reputational risks
Note! Despite the dominance of global and Ukrainian postal services, thousands of individual entrepreneurs still remain on Russian domains – and this is a matter not only of convenience, but also of business security.
How are Russian postal services used to circumvent sanctions?
In January 2026, it became known that at least ten Russian postal services that interact with operators in Germany, France, and other European countries may be part of the logistics network through which sanctioned goods enter Russia, UA.News writes.
Two weeks ago, we handed over the relevant materials to our partners, and I hope that the journalistic investigation, which came out so well and on time, will speed up their reaction. We are also preparing our solutions,
– said Vladyslav Vlasyuk, advisor to the President of Ukraine on sanctions policy.
In addition, Vlasyuk reported on the analysis of components of the Russian Kh-101 missile, manufactured in 2026.
Preliminary conclusions: Russia and Belarus in 2025 (learned), there is the PRC 25 and 24 years, there is the USA 24 years and older, there are the Netherlands, Germany, Taiwan, Japan. At least 45 foreign components. Many conclusions can be drawn. We work with partners,
– he noted.
Journalists from the German newspaper Bild conducted their own investigation and tracked the route of the packages using GPS beacons. It turned out that hundreds of tons of cargo regularly arrive in Russia through a network linked to Russian structures.
A key role in the scheme is played by a logistics company registered in late 2022. It formally has a postal address in Cologne. According to the investigation, the company is run by Dmitry V., a former top manager of a structure associated with Russian Post.

What Russian service was banned in Ukraine and what was replaced?
- The list includes all 1C products (Accounting, Enterprise, Trade, Salary and HR in all configurations), BAS and UA – Budget products. This was stated in a comment to Channel 24 by Maris Sperga, Director of the B2B Solutions Department of Tet.
- The new rules must be followed by state institutions and critical enterprises: these are state and local government bodies, military formations, state and municipal enterprises, and operators of critical infrastructure facilities. For private businesses, this is a signal to choose new programs if companies have not already done so.
- Alternatives for replacement include international and Ukrainian CRM/ERP systems such as Creatio, Odoo, UGLA, SalesDrive, SBE, and Dilovod.
