The largest aluminum producer in Russia will “bend” / Russian media
One of the leading Russian companies, Rusal, recorded record losses in 2025. The whole point is that the Russian economy is rolling into an abyss.
What losses did Rusal suffer?
Rusal recorded losses of $455 million, NV writes.
Rusal's net loss came despite a 22.6% increase in total revenue to $14.8 billion, driven by higher aluminum sales and higher prices on the London Metal Exchange (LME).
The main reason for this situation was the increase in production costs: costs for electricity, raw materials, personnel, and logistics increased.
Rusal said independent auditors had identified “material uncertainties” that could cast doubt on the company's ability to continue as a going concern. The main risk factors were:
- geopolitical tensions;
- sanctions imposed by a number of countries;
- high volatility in commodity and currency markets.
Note! Rusal is a Russian aluminum company, one of the world's largest producers of primary aluminum and alumina. The main markets for its products are Europe, Russia and the CIS countries, North America, Southeast Asia, Japan and Korea.
