To effectively manage a business and achieve career growth, you need to have knowledge about energy management and organize the work process efficiently. Read on for basic rules that will help avoid burnout at work and support quality work.
How to be a successful leader and how to properly organize the work process?
Ilya Litun, entrepreneur, founder of the TURBO EDUCATION educational ecosystem, EdTech leader, and mentor in scaling educational businesses, spoke to Channel 24 about why running your own business can be exhausting and how to prevent it.
Business is a constant burden, and for many entrepreneurs, running their own business becomes exhausting, as they need to control a number of processes. In particular, they need to be involved in meetings, communicate, and have a desire to get results.
According to the entrepreneur, his own example of changing the position of CEO to owner is “not about a well-deserved rest, but about a necessary change in thinking.”

Business is a marathon, not a sprint, and the main resource in it is not an hour on the calendar, but the inner energy of the leader. Today, the trend towards “successful success” is being replaced by a trend towards “conscious presence.”
In particular, Ilya Litun adds that the main indicator of efficiency and productivity should be the state of the manager. In the experience of an entrepreneur, after transferring management and transitioning to the role of owner, the pace of work changes, and the workload generally becomes less.
In addition, energy management rules must be taken into account to increase efficiency and improve work organization.
- Information detox at a specific time
The most important rule for maintaining mental health is to learn to limit information noise before and after work.
My working day now starts at 11:00. The time from 7:00 to 11:00 is a “quiet zone” dedicated to sports, breakfast and morning rituals. The most important thing here is the complete absence of gadgets,
– noted Ilya Litun.
He explained that such a “restriction” in the use of gadgets helps to establish concentration. After all, the brain wakes up in silence, and not in the mode of reactions to other people's requests. It will be much easier for a person without such a “digital trash” to stay focused.
- “Result or employment”
This rule states that it is important to invest resources in something truly effective and productive, rather than being scattered across many tasks at once. That is, it is better to “radically reduce the number of tasks.” This is how you will be as productive as possible.
And if in the position of CEO, “yes” to all opportunities will work, then the main task of the business owner is “to find the one opportunity out of a hundred that will truly change the game.” According to Ilya Litun, at every meeting you can ask yourself the following questions:
Does it lead to a result or is it just an imitation of the activity?
If such actions are not effective enough, it is better to delegate the task or not perform it at all.
- Proper management of the four types of energy
As the entrepreneur notes, time management doesn't work these days. It's better to focus on energy management. For example, you can divide your energy into 4 components and add a certain activity to each. It could be:
- physical energy;
- emotional;
- mental;
- meaningful.
This will help you use your resources wisely and show your “strong” and most important aspects of your activity. But these components will only work in balance with each other.
- Visual calendar audit
First of all, it is important to keep in mind that meetings and conferences should be structured. It is better to devote time to meaningful and more concise conversations, rather than empty chatter. This is called the “consolidation tactic.”
And to control the number of tasks and areas, you can use the “color indication” of tasks. Yes, each category or task has its own color, and even by visual perception, you can quickly and easily see what is too much and what is not enough.
- Checkup is the first step
After delegating tasks, the biggest mistake is to immediately jump into a new project or start a new activity. The entrepreneur advises taking time to pause and take care of yourself. For example, you can get a medical checkup and take into account the period when a person worked on their own business continuously.
- Detect fatigue in advance
Burnout occurs when a person ignores their body and its basic recovery needs for a long time. You can use devices or apps to track health indicators and assess your condition. Be attentive to your well-being.
By the way, this rule is related to the previous one. According to Ilya Litun, you need to listen to yourself, because business is just a part of life.
- Accepting the illusion of “being omniscient”
It is better to value time than to chase the illusion that you can do absolutely everything in time.

This path is not about working less. It is about working more meaningfully while remaining a living person. The main advice to every owner: do not run away from working with yourself. Try to be with yourself, hear and explore yourself, because business is only part of your great journey.
In particular, it is important to learn to say “no.” You need to say no to 99 opportunities and choose only one key one.
How does the state help entrepreneurs work on mental health?
In particular, the portal Diya notes that when mentioning entrepreneurs, it is customary to talk about strategy, finance, marketing or management. However, the sphere of psychological resilience requires no less attention. Perhaps the first task of a business owner is to cope with stress . And in times of financial crises or difficulties – even more so.
The resource not only offers several techniques for calming down, including breathing exercises. In particular, the state portal advises paying attention to the symptoms of emotional burnout :
- loss of interest in tasks that were previously inspiring;
- difficulty concentrating;
- constant fatigue, even after rest;
- decreased emotional involvement in communication;
- a feeling of emotional emptiness, indifference to the results of activities.
To support Ukrainian business owners, Diya offers free consultations. You can sign up for a 1-hour meeting to understand what's going on.
A modern entrepreneur is not only about business strategies, but also about the ability to recognize your own emotions, read the mood of your team, react consciously and remain effective even under pressure,
– added on the state resource.
In particular, it is known that within the framework of this support, you can contact Yevhen Kyrbaba. He is an active entrepreneur, practical psychologist, founder and leader of the All-Ukrainian psychological support mission during the war “How to Live Further”.
