A Ukrainian woman shared a story in Threads that frankly surprised her: while trying to buy a regular bottle of water at Rozetka, she was suddenly asked to sign. It was about paying in cash.
Why did Rozetka require a signature for cash payments?
According to the girl, she simply approached the cash register with water and wanted to pay in cash, she told Threads.
However, instead of the usual payment, she received an unexpected request – to sign the payment document. When she refused, the employee offered an alternative – at least to put a cross in the appropriate place.
However, the customer found this requirement strange and unreasonable, so she decided not to continue with the purchase and simply left the store.
Rozetka representatives explained the situation directly in the comments under the post.
Payment in the store is accepted through the RozetkaPay cash register (LLC “FC “EVO”). When making cash transactions, the client's signature on payment documents is mandatory. This is provided for by the requirements of the NBU Resolution No. 148 “On conducting cash transactions in the national currency of Ukraine”. All cash transactions must be properly executed and confirmed by the signatures of the client and the cashier,

In fact, as the company explains, even such a small purchase is processed as a financial transaction that requires confirmation from the client.

- Some supported the store's position, noting that Rozetka works not just as a retailer, but as a financial structure, therefore it operates according to the rules of financial monitoring.
- Others believe that it seems too complicated and confusing for ordinary shoppers, especially when it comes to small purchases.
A similar practice, by the way, is used in NovaPay , where they may also require confirmation of transactions by signature.
What is financial monitoring and when is it carried out?

One of the reasons why such financial monitoring may be initiated is exceeding the money transfer limit during the month. These are the following cases:
- transactions for an amount of 400 thousand hryvnias or more;
- transactions for an amount of 55 thousand hryvnias or more initiated by entities conducting lotteries and/or gambling;
- transactions that are less than the established thresholds that meet 70+ criteria according to NBU Resolution No. 65.
In order to avoid problems, including blocking the card, you should have a certain package of documents with you.
If we talk about the everyday expenses of Ukrainians, including shopping in supermarkets or online stores, paying for utilities/mobile communications/education, receiving wages and social assistance, they are not of interest to the State Tax Service,

How did the marketplace abandon the Russian-language version of the site?

In March 2026, it became known that the Rozetka network abandoned the Russian-language version of the site, now it is available only in Ukrainian.

“Mezha” contacted Rozetka for an official comment and received confirmation. However, currently, Russian still remains in the site's structure.
