Sports retailer Reebok is gradually winding down its presence in the Ukrainian market, with most stores scheduled to close in May. There has also been a question of what will happen to the rights to the brand.
Which Reebok stores will close and why?
There are only two stores left in Kyiv – in the Retroville shopping mall and SkyMall, both of which will not be open for long, Forbes reported.
- The point in SkyMall will accept customers until May 8, 2026.
- Retroville's lease is valid until the end of April, but the store will only be open until it sells out of its remaining merchandise.
- The brand's online store is also closing – the site will operate until the stock runs out.
Back in 2022, Adidas sold Reebok to the American company Authentic Brands Group for $2.5 billion. Subsequently, the Turkish holding FLO Retailing received a license to develop the brand. Together with Reebok, FLO is also closing the InStreet store in the capital's Respublika Park shopping mall.
Turkey is experiencing a difficult economic situation, which is why large Turkish chains are gradually leaving the Ukrainian market – English Home, Koton, DeFacto, FLO. These processes have also affected Reebok,
– says the Forbes interlocutor.
Will anyone buy the rights to Reebok?
Ukrainian sports retailers are interested in becoming the official distributor of the brand. Negotiations are currently underway, with Marathon, Intersport, and Sport City among the potential players. However, this process may take some time.
One of Forbes' interlocutors noted that it is unlikely that anyone will launch Reebok as a separate chain in the near future – this format has shown weak results. A more realistic option is sales through multi-brand stores, where goods are purchased centrally and sold together with other brands.
