President: Ukraine has chosen a law firm to support the subsoil agreement with the US
The head of state announced this at a press conference, as reported by a Ukrinform correspondent.
“First of all, the teams are working on the current agreement. As already mentioned, we are working on choosing a law firm and, in general, have already decided. Three main companies have agreed to represent Ukraine and have the necessary competence. We have reached a preliminary agreement with one of these three companies and are now discussing the terms,” Zelensky noted.
He added that early next week there would be “a significant meeting with our team where I would be presented with all the points that we are comfortable with or that we believe would reflect a fair agreement.”
“The team will inform me about the agreement and the most important aspects,” Zelensky said.
He stressed that Ukraine views the agreement with the United States on mineral resources exclusively as a partnership move.
According to him, after the agreement is presented to the president, preparations will begin to send a technical group to the United States to conduct negotiations with American partners.
“At the moment, we rely on our technical team, I am not planning a trip [to the US] yet,” Zelensky added.

As reported by Ukrinform, the Presidential Administration previously clarified that the agreement between Ukraine and the United States on rare earth metals is already being actively developed by the Ukrainian side. It must comply with the legislation and interests of Ukraine. At the same time, the document does not contain security guarantees from the partners.
The Ukrainian and U.S. delegations planned to sign a bilateral agreement on the rules and conditions for the operation of the investment fund for reconstruction on February 28. It was expected to be a framework document, and the countries were to continue working on an agreement on the establishment of an investment fund for reconstruction, which would require approval by the Verkhovna Rada. However, the agreement was never signed.
