Ten Ukrainian insurance companies have passed re-accreditation at the Polish consulate in connection with the entry into force of the law adopted by the Sejm at the end of September 2020 on amending the law on foreigners, the Insurance Business association has reported.

Such insurance companies as Omega, Providna, PZU Ukraine, Etalon, Universalna, Kniazha Vienna Insurance Group, ARX, European Travel Insurance, Euroins Ukraine, and Guardian have received the right to issue insurance policies when obtaining a visa for employment in Poland.

As reported, the Polish consulate in mid-November warned Ukrainian insurers about changes in the requirements for accreditation.

"Today, many of our companies have already received information from the consular department of the Polish Embassy that in connection with the entry into force of the amendments to the law on foreigners, it is necessary to fill out a questionnaire to confirm the presence of all items of additional requirements for the insurer," the association said.

The law was passed to bring in line the changes in the European visa code in connection with Poland's entry into the program of visa-free travel from the United States.

This law introduced stricter requirements for health insurance policies for foreigners and changes in the field of travel health insurance, which is one of the requirements for a foreigner to obtain a national visa, as well as to enter Poland on the basis of such a visa.

Thus, the requirements for insurance companies are as follows: the presence of a round-the-clock call center that would receive information about the occurrence of an insured event, the publication of reports every six months on the number of premiums received from clients and the amount of compensations paid. In addition, insurance companies that are not registered in the EU member states must order an audit from companies certified by an international agency.
