PM Shmyhal invites Icelandic companies to invest in Ukraine’s energy sector

Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal has invited Icelandic companies to invest in Ukraine’s energy sector and Ukrainian economy in general.

The relevant statement was made by Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal during his meeting with Prime Minister of Iceland Katrín Jakobsdóttir in Kyiv, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“We invite Icelandic companies to invest in the Ukrainian energy sector and in the Ukrainian economy in general,” Shmyhal noted.

He expressed gratitude to Iceland for the fact that it is actively invved in supporting Ukraine, and was one of the first countries to have supported Ukraine during Russian massive missile attacks on civilian energy infrastructure.

“We considered the possibilities of Iceland’s assistance in restoring the Ukrainian energy sector and the use of modern green technogies in our energy sector,” Shmyhal added.

Additionally, Shmyhal noted the importance of Russia’s compensation for the damage caused to Ukraine. This refers to Russian assets that must be seized and spent on Ukraine’s future reconstruction in coeration with partners. According to the Prime Minister of Ukraine, the total amount of losses is about $600-700 billion at the moment.
