The Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine’s parliament, passed several crucial pieces of legislation on Dec. 15, gearing the country up for the upcoming calendar year.

With 289 votes in favor, parliament approved the 2021 state budget. Additionally, lawmakers supported prolonging the law that grants extensive autonomy to the territories of the eastern Donbas, currently occupied by Russia, should they return to Ukrainian control.
