Number of state tax inspectorates in Ukraine decreases by 78% in 2024 – Hetmantsev

The number of state tax inspectorates has been reduced by 78%, from 528 to 117 in 2024, and the total number of territorial bodies has been reduced by 15% or 3,300 units, Head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Finance, Tax and Customs Policy Danylo Hetmantsev said.

According to him, these changes were made within the reform defined by the National Revenue Strategy until 2030.

"This concerns the reform of the organizational structure of tax authorities and the alignment of the number of state tax inspectorates by districts of the administrative-territorial structure of the country. Budget funds should be used rationally, therefore, the transfer of services to an electronic format and the ability to receive them in the payer's electronic account, the My Tax application, Diia, led to a reduction in the number of State Tax Inspectorates, service employees, office space and funds allocated for their maintenance," Hetmantsev said in Telegram channel on Thursday.

He said, in general, due to the redistribution of personnel between the central office and territorial bodies, the reduction of departmental control units and anti-corruption units at the territorial level and their increase at the central level, the total number of staff decreased by 12.5% or 3,000 units.

Hetmantsev said this was possible due to the digitalization carried out over the past two years and the introduction of a risk-oriented approach to the management of tax authorities.

As reported, the Cabinet of Ministers approved the National Revenue Strategy for 2024-2030 at a meeting on December 27, 2023. Its adoption is the last structural milestone of the IMF cooperation program, which Ukraine has committed to fulfilling by the end of the year.
