In some countries, self-employment is so common that entrepreneurs have developed a culture and lifestyle of their own. There, opening a startup, a small coffee shop, or a tech company is almost as commonplace as working in an office.

Which countries have the most businessmen?

OnDeck's research showed that the world leaders in terms of the number of entrepreneurs per capita were not the largest economies in the world. The first positions were taken by countries that have relied on digitalization, simple taxes, and comfortable conditions for starting their own business.

Using LinkedIn data, the researchers calculated the number of business founders per 10,000 employees in different countries around the world, which allowed them to estimate where entrepreneurship is most prevalent among the population.

Estonia (218.6) took first place in the ranking, where special youth incentive programs are in place. The financial accessibility of starting your own business also plays an important role – on average, it is only 1% of gross national income per capita, compared to 19.8% in the world.

– the researchers write.

Israel took second place (with 167.5 businessmen per 10,000 population), Armenia took third place (156.3), Georgia took fourth place (133.3), and Finland took fifth place (130.8). Also in the top ten were: England (122.4), Lithuania (112.9), Switzerland (108.3), Cyprus and Slovenia (107.3 each).

Is location really that important?

So whether a person decides to start their own business is influenced not only by personal ambitions or money, but also by the environment they live in. After all, in places with a large number of entrepreneurs, it is easier to find partners, investors, and like-minded people.

At the same time, the development of the Internet is partially erasing these boundaries. Now you can search for mentors, knowledge, or business connections from almost anywhere in the world, Entrepreneur writes.

One way to build strong relationships is to set aside time each week to focus on helping others. For example, you could have lunch with an entrepreneur who connected with you on LinkedIn or attend an event organized by someone you know.
