Latest news for today in Ukraine
The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) tentatively estimates the loss of Ukraine's GDP from the enhanced quarantine in January-2021 at 0.2%, Deputy NBU Governor Dmytro Solohub said.
"We estimate that the new restrictions will lead to losses of about 0.2% of GDP next year," he said during a press briefing on Thursday.
Earlier, the Ministry of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture noted that the introduction of weekend quarantine would not have a significant impact on the results of the year and its impact would be 0.04-0.06 percentage points on an annualized basis.
At the same time, Solohub noted that the NBU estimates the impact of weekend quarantine on the country's GDP at 0.02 percentage points.
"We were expecting an impact of approximately up to 0.2 percentage points on GDP. We can say that, most likely, it will be smaller," Solohub said.
The deputy head also noted the deterioration of business expectations, which, in his opinion, was more influenced not by the quarantine itself, but by its expectation.
"Business, people did not really understand exactly the way the quarantine would be introduced," Solohub said.
